Today I celebrate the TRAINER

EXTRAORDINAIRE, Mary Younger-Aquarifit.

When I first decided that it was time to get myself together, it was suggested that I try her Zumba class since I love to dance. Boy was it everything that they said it would be and even more. Then I was able to get in on a free pop-up kickboxing class and I heard her mention she was a trainer. Well, that blossomed into over 60+ Ibs of weight loss (which most have been found thanks to the pandemic). But it was also way more than just that! She is truly one of the most beautiful souls on the planet. She has been such a blessing to me whether it was a listening ear, sharing wisdom, good music, or just good ole laughs. Thank you for everything. Love you to the moon and back! Now if you are looking to get your body right, check her out at Aquarifit and get in on the classes or personal trainer. You will definitely thank me later. #womenenrichingwomen #womensupportingwomen #wew #wegrowtogether #celebratingblackwomen

Hello my dear favorite silver sneaker instructor! I am pissed to put it nicely. Here it is Wednesday afternoon 3:00 and I am supposed to be spending this time with you. The 15 minutes I got with you three times a week meant the world to me. I am an amputee who is struggling to get it together to be able to wear a prosthetic and walk again. I hate the wheelchair but right now that is all I can do. You were a big part of getting my strength and keeping it and now it has been sucked away. I was so upset to hear you would no longer have our strength class and I miss you. I am writing a letter to silver sneakers to express my opinion and what you have done for me. I have to get out of the wheelchair or I will lose my sanity. It is been a rough ride losing my right leg because of an accident and I want to get strong enough to be able to walk again. If I live closer to Chicago, believe me I would be at your gym begging you to train me and get in shape. I am shaking writing this because this is so emotional for me and I have had to accept a lot of things over the last couple years that I never thought I would have to go through. I enjoy silver sneakers and I never thought I would lose you. You have touched my life in such a positive way and I just want you to know how much I have fallen in love with you and your desire to help all of us, especially me. You truly care and that is so rare and it felt like you were always talking to me and motivating me. There are a lot of great instructors, but there is only one you! I hope we are together again and I have the pleasure of your teaching again. Continuing to touch lives and to help people like you have been doing. Thank you for the time. I did get to spend with you and all you did for me.

Much love from one of your greatest silver sneaker fans,

Antoinette Cofield

Mary Younger has been my fitness trainer for the past 4 years. She is very dedicated to her profession and helping me reach my goals. She is very reliable and values both my time and hers; even encouraged me to be more on time. When I started working out with Mary, I was having some

issues with my knee. Together with a little physical therapy and continued personal training with Mary, I’ve been able to avoid surgery thus far.

During our workout sessions, Mary customizes my exercises, shows me the proper form and often time does the exercises with me; which helps to

motivate me; not to mention she’s so much fun to work with. She always asks me at the beginning of every session, “how are you feeling today?”

and makes adjustments and offer alternatives based on my response. Form and posture is at the core of her training and I’ve learned so much

from her that when I’m working out independently, I take those lessons with me. I hear her voice saying “abs tight, shoulders relaxed, breath, be

sure to stretch...etc. Mary also shares helpful information about nutrition and the importance of

living a healthy and balanced lifestyle. In the past, she’s shared her monthly meal plan with me and recently some information about carbs. I look forward to working out with Mary each week; she’s demanding, lots of fun, challenges me when I complain and ultimately brings out the best in

my performance.

Mary Younger is an admirable person in so many ways. As an exercise trainer, she is deeply knowledgeable about the human body and conscientiously insists on proper form to maximize results and protect her clients from injury. As an independent businesswoman, she keeps her time commitments and coordinates her schedule to accommodate her various clients' needs and schedules. As a human being, Mary is both frank and diplomatic. I admire her and value her friendship.

I have known Mary for five years during which time she has been my trainer first at LA Fitness and then in my home. I have told her many times that I really dislike exercise but I have stuck with it all these years because of her. She has a fun personality and we have spent a lot of time laughing as well as sweating. I try not to miss any of our sessions because seeing Mary is a happy hour.

As a trainer she is superb. It is rare that any exercise is repeated so our sessions are never dull. She is thoughtful about my 75 yr old aches and pains and modifies the workout so that we work around them. She is constantly attuned to her client and thanks to her I have improved and maintained my strength over time.

If asked to recommend a trainer I would enthusiastically recommend Mary Younger.

Kres Snyder

I proudly recommend Mary for all ages and all types of fitness. She takes times to learn strengths and weaknesses and check-ins over time to reassess. She pretends to be firm but she is one of the kindest humans I've ever met.

Doris Braendel

I am an 81-year-old woman with several chronic health problems. I have been exercising under Mary’s supervision for about 5 years now. Not only have I not deteriorated; I have actually improved my strength and flexibility. Mary is organized, knowledgeable, and efficient, but more importantly, she is compassionate and flexible, adapting exercises to fit my abilities while still demanding that I maintain the postures and procedures that I need to do to stay in shape. I recommend her highly.
